Wow, lots of activity on the usablight web site in the past several days. Five new counties with confirmed reports in New York, four in Ohio, and two in Massachusetts. Because of the wide geographic distribution, and recent flurry of reports, it’s safest to assume that late blight is already in your area but has not yet been reported. All recent isolates have been identified as US-23, which is sensitive to mefanoxam, a very effective fungicide (not allowed for organic production). If you haven’t already, sign up for email or text alerts of when late blight has been found in your area here. For information on scouting for and identifying late blight, see this video.
