7.12.13 – Late blight confirmed in the Northeast

Late blight has been confirmed in Erie and Madison Counties in New York, and in Franklin County in Massachusetts.  The pathogen isolate for both samples from Erie county has been identified as US-23, which is sensitive to mefenoxam, a fungicide that can be used by conventional farmers that is very effective against susceptible isolates.  For the most current information on late blight finds, see the map on the web site.  Click on the county on the map or on a report in the list to the right of the map to get information on the isolate identified from that report and its sensitivity to mefenoxam.

Please scout your tomato and potato plantings for late blight and report finds on the usablight web site.  For information on how to scout for late blight, view this scouting video.
